Who we are and how to contact us

SoftAlt is a software information and editorial website. For privacy questions or rights requests, contact

For privacy requests, corrections, or questions about SoftAlt, email admin@AltSoftFree.com. Please describe your request without including passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.

. This policy covers this website, not the independent software providers we link to.

Information we process

We currently publish content without analytics services or advertising networks. Viewing a page can generate technical information needed to deliver and secure the website, such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time, in server logs. If you comment, WordPress processes the information you submit, your IP address and browser information for moderation and abuse prevention. Do not include sensitive information in public comments.

Messages you send to our contact email are used to respond to you. Bookmark and tool-suggestion features store their information locally in your browser. They are not submissions to our editorial team. Login cookies are used for authorized administration. If you explicitly choose WordPress’s comment-details option, your browser can retain your name and email for later comments.

Cookies and external content

The essential softalt_consent cookie stores your category choices, choice time and policy version for up to 180 days. It does not contain your name or email. Local fonts and locally hosted images do not require an external font service. External media, including eligible third-party images, avatars and embeds, is blocked by the theme until you permit External media. When loaded, the provider can receive your IP address and browser information and apply its own privacy policy.

Analytics and marketing categories are currently marked Not currently used. Accepting all does not activate an unused category. You can reject optional categories, customize them, or withdraw permission using Cookie Settings in the footer. Withdrawing permission reloads the page to stop previously activated resources. Previously received information cannot be recalled from an external provider. Your browser controls can clear its stored data. No geolocation is needed: the choices are available worldwide.

Purposes and legal bases for EEA and UK visitors

Where applicable, we rely on consent for optional external media and any future optional tracking; legitimate interests for proportionate website security, delivery and comment moderation; and legal obligations when a law requires retention or disclosure. We use contact information to address the request you initiate. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Sharing, international access and retention

We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Technical service providers may process information necessary to operate the website or email. We do not publish a provider list that has not yet been established. External websites have their own practices. If operations introduce international transfers requiring safeguards, we must assess and document the applicable transfer mechanism and update this policy before that processing starts.

We retain comments while they remain published or needed for moderation, and contact messages only as needed to handle the request, follow-up and applicable legal obligations. Technical logs and backups are retained according to operational necessity and security requirements. Browser storage remains until it expires or you clear it. Contact us for information about a particular record or deletion request.

Your European privacy rights

Subject to applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. You can withdraw consent at any time and complain to your local data protection supervisory authority. We ordinarily respond within one month; lawful extensions may apply for complex or numerous requests, and we will explain them. We may request proportionate information to verify identity. We do not use solely automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects.

California privacy rights

The CCPA/CPRA applies to qualifying businesses and processing; it is not a general law covering every US visitor or every website. Where it applies, California residents may request to know and access collected information, correct it, delete it, opt out of sale or sharing, and limit specified uses of sensitive personal information, without unlawful discrimination. An authorized agent may submit a request with appropriate proof of authority.

We currently have no sale or advertising-sharing activity to opt out of. The footer’s Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information control nevertheless saves an advertising opt-out preference. Our consent system honors Global Privacy Control by keeping marketing disabled. We do not seek sensitive personal information. Contact us to exercise applicable rights; CCPA requests are generally answered within 45 days, with an additional 45 days where legally permitted and explained.

Children and changes

This website is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly solicit children’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information that should be removed. We will update this page when our actual processing changes and request new consent when appropriate.
